Especially as we age and the skin starts to become naturally less hydrated, we compulsively need a powerful daily moisture therapy. The method of picking a good anti-aging moisturizer is tedious particularly with so many products available in the market - cheap, expensive, natural, and high tech products. You may invariably end up picking up a product that may not be the best one for you. All moisturizers are not made equal, and it is important that we just grab the first product we see on the shelves. Many people tend to avoid using moisturizers on their skin care. But moisturizer is a very effective and important factor in making sure that you have prolonged, healthy, and more satisfying anti-aging results.
The ingredients of the anti-aging moisturizer are classified into two forms humectant agents and occlusive agents. The former enhances the hydration levels in the skin by extracting water from the skin's underlying layers. The latter builds a protective barrier on the skin's surface to preserve the moisture in the skin. Both these agents also help to control acne in acne-prone individuals. The most common occlusive ingredients of anti-aging moisturizer are beeswax, petrolatum, paraffin, and cocoa.
Other than these two agents occlusive and humectant there are also other ingredients used in anti-aging moisturizers. Emollients are ingredients used in a moisturizer to fill in gap between the cells on the skin's surface to make the skin look smooth and soft. Emulsifiers are powerful agents that are used to help non-mixable solutions to blend with other ingredients. Most moisturizers contain preservatives to prevent bacteria growth and some fragrances as additives in the mixture to drive away all bad odors and offer a pleasant aromatic smell.
Good quality moisturizer contains valuable ingredients that smooth and soothe the skin. As per the instruction of the skin care experts, you should buy the moisturizer best suited to you to avoid allergies, rashes or any other skin hitch. Although there are various anti-aging moisturizers available in the market, you can also prepare your own anti-aging moisturizer. Take lanolin and beeswax and melt them together using a microwave. Lanolin acts as a protective barrier to preserve skin's moisturizer whereas beeswax gives good consistency to the moisturizer. To this add some olive oil and aloe gel and mix thoroughly. Aloe gel hydrates and plump up the skin where skin wrinkles are evened out and olive oil gives suppleness to the aging skin.
Combine these mixtures together using a rubber spatula and beat it thoroughly until it gets in a smooth consistent paste. Sprinkle rose water and lavender essential oil to the mixture and beat the mixture continuously until the mixture attains creamy consistency. Rose water helps to clear skin tone and the essential oil adds fragrance to the mixture.
